Why You Can Trust Us

We get it: there’s a lot of conflicting advice out there about fishkeeping. One forum says do a fishless cycle, another swears by adding fish immediately. One YouTube video recommends daily water changes, another says weekly. It’s confusing!

That’s why we try to cut through the noise. We look at what actually works, drawing from scientific studies when they exist, experienced hobbyists who’ve kept these fish for years, and our own hands-on experience. When experts disagree (and they do!), we do our best to tell you about the different approaches and why people support each one.

Our care guides, equipment reviews, and troubleshooting articles are based on a mix of established aquarium knowledge, testing results, and real-world feedback. If we’re recommending a filter flow rate or temperature range, it’s because that’s what tends to work well for those fish, whether that comes from research papers or decades of successful fishkeeping.

We try to update our content as we learn more and as the hobby evolves. New species get imported, better equipment comes out, and our understanding of fish behavior improves over time.

But here’s the thing: Every tank is different. Your water parameters, bioload, and fish personalities matter. If your betta is lethargic, your ammonia is spiking, or you’re dealing with a disease outbreak, please consult an aquatic vet or experienced specialist. We’re here to help you learn, but we can’t replace hands-on expertise.
